Recommended Rules & Regulations
(For All Snow Tubing Operations)
General Knowledge:
- All staff members must be properly trained before operating the tube slide.
- All tubers must ride up the lift (hill) backwards.
- Tow lanyard and ring must be placed in the tube before the customer gets in.
- Only one person per tube.
- Tubers must be at least 42" tall.
- Tubers age five and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Tubers eight years and under are recommended to wear helmets.
- Tubes must remain on the hill.
- No tubing allowed in parking lots or in front of the chalet.
- No pushing or spinning tubers at the top of the tube run.
- Always keep a lookout for potential problems in your area of responsibility.
- Contact the supervisor immediately when witnessing procedures being performed incorrectly.
- Only the supervisor can decide if tubers are allowed to go down in groups. Never more than four tubes per group.
- Make sure that all signs are clearly visible.
- When monitoring the lanes at the bottom of the hill make sure the tubers get up quickly after they come to a stop. Never allow tubers to cross lanes as they exit the bottom of the hill. All tubers must leave the area by moving down and out the lane they rode in.
Connecting Tubers To The Lift ("The Hook-Up"):
- Before connecting tubers to your lifts make sure all hand radios are working.
- Only the hook up operator can attach tubes to the lift.
- Be sure the emergency stop button is working before starting the lift.
- Horseplay around the lift area is not tolerated and should be reported to the supervisor.
- Before starting the lift after a stop, make sure all tubers are seated in the tube and connected to the lift.
- Explain to all tubers the procedure for disconnecting from the lift when at the top of the hill.
- Make sure any loose clothing hanging from the body is tucked in.
Disconnecting Tubers From The Lift ("The Unhook"):
- Make sure all emergency plugs are in place before starting.
- Make sure the roll-off sign is in clear view for the tubers.
- The stop button is vital at the unhook stage. Operators must be prepared to stop the lift for people who are not prompt enough to get off the tube at the top of the lift.
The Top Of The Hill:
- This is the most important area of control at the winter tube park. Mistakes in this location can cause injury.
- These workers are responsible for removal of any ice boulders or debris in the tubing lane. Make sure to check the lane ways prior to each operator shift change.
- All tubers must be completely off the tube track before next tube proceeds down the hill.
- You are in charge of the lanes. Only you can instruct tubers on when they can begin their run.
